Hardware and Software Co-design Teaching Laboratory

Basic Purposes:

  • 1、To improve the students’ system design concept and practice ability by providing FPGA boards that can be used in hardware/software co-design and verification and primary FPGA development environment mainly depending on related software.
  • 2、To let the students directly design a digital signal processor or establish a digital signal processing system in the way from simulation to FPGA system construction by providing a set of high-performance FPGA developing tools, which makes DSP teaching and lab much closer to the mainstream of the IC industry today.
  • 3、To improve the students’ developing and programming capability in DSP application and to help students obtain a better understanding over the architecture, application examples and developing skills of advanced digital signal processor by providing such processors and related developing boards.

This laboratory can provide the teachers and students with a good environment for developing and implementing mainstream hardware and software co-design project, and can hold related competitions among different schools and universities by providing the students with good hardware and software designing platform.

The main facilities and equipments in this lab include web servers, personal workstations, PCs, FPGA developing boards including Xilinx Virtex-II Pro, Xilinx Digilent Sparten3, Xilinx Digilent Sparten3E, Xilinx Virtex-IV LX, YC-FED 6204, SPECTRUM Digital 5510, etc.
